Unfortunately, the data we have access to isn’t enough to tell us how loose or tight slots are at individual casinos. Instead, reporting will highlight groups of casinos based on where they are located (ie The Strip, Downtown, Boulder, etc.). We will make sure to point out which casinos reside in the zones identified as having loose slots.

As a matter of housekeeping, the casino slot “win percentage” is defined as the percentage of the total amount wagered by the player that the casino holds as winnings. For example, a 10% casino win percentage means that the casino keeps 10 cents of every dollar in the slot machines.
Example: A player deposits $20 into a slot machine and keeps her money for a while playing a total of $200 in spins before losing it all. The total amount the player committed was $200 and the casino won, or the holding was $20, resulting in a 10% casino winning percentage.
Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s take a look at where you can find more suitable slots to pay around Las Vegas.
Where you play matters. The graph below details casino slot win percentages by region combining all slot categories. You can quickly imagine that casinos in tourist destinations take a large percentage of slot play as profit.
Las Vegas Slot Machine Fun Facts
As mentioned above, the best places around Las Vegas to play slots are the Boulder area (6.17% casino win rate) and North Las Vegas (7.26% win rate).
In an unusual twist, for the second year in a row, slots were tighter in Downtown than on the Strip in 2021 (8.36% Downtown vs 8.27% on the Strip). That bucks the historic trend of slots downtown reliably being a smidge looser than their peers on the Strip.
Players will be disappointed to hear that slots on the Las Vegas Strip have increased slightly year-over-year, with the house win percentage increasing from 7.95% in 2020 to 8.27% in 2021. 2020 to 8.36 percent in 2021.
Keep in mind that the above slot statistics also include video poker. The lower casino win percentages off the Strip are partly, but not entirely, due to the better video poker pay tables offered by establishments away from the tourist centers.

While most players usually can’t tell the difference between a “tight” or “loose” slot, the data suggests that staying away from the Strip and Fremont Street gives you a slightly better chance of winning.
Casinos that fall within the loose Boulder and North Las Vegas reporting zones are broken down below. Note that these aren’t the prettiest areas, but if success is more important to you than bright lights, fountains, and celebrity chef restaurants, order an Uber and make the trip.
Boulder Area Casinos: Sam’s Town, Eastside Cannery, Arizona Charlie’s, Boulder Station, Sunset Station, M Resort, Fiesta Henderson, Green Valley Ranch.
Casinos in the North Las Vegas area: Jerry’s Nugget, Silver Nugget, The Canary, Fiesta Hotel and Casino, Texas Station, Canary, Aliante.

Slot categories also play a role in finding low machines, as the graph of statewide data below demonstrates. In 2021, penny slots were the tightest slot in Nevada by a large margin with a 9.85% win rate, with quarters a distant second at 8.04%.
Although the data is somewhat “contaminated” by video poker in the quarter denomination and above, the view is still useful to show relatively poor bet penny slots.
Note the correlation between sections and how loose or tight the machines are. Generally speaking, the higher the value, the looser the slot.
If you are a penny slot player playing 75 cents per spin or more, playing the same bet on a higher value machine will give you a better chance of winning.
