The 50 or so employees keep their creative juices flowing in a gaming lounge full of games, even if there’s no money involved. The office also has a green screen room and sound studio, tools for building machines for the entertainment of casino patrons.

“We draw, we animate, we shoot things on green screen, we compose music in-house, we do voiceovers,” said Bradley Rose, senior vice president of game development. “And we put it all together and packed it into a vending machine.

Everi recently launched slot machines with the cartoon characters Richie Rich and Underdog and the classic movie “Casablanca”.

Chicago is the best place for all of these slot creations, Rose said. It’s a mecca for software developers and artists, and it’s smack dab in the middle of an unexpected concentration of casinos.

“This location has 26 casinos around it within four hours,” Rose said. “It’s very close to a lot of what we need to see.”

Everi is testing some of its new games at several nearby casinos, including the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee and the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan, allowing the company to gauge how well its designs are received.
